• Banja Luka: largest city and administrative centre, university location, industry and IT services.
• Bijeljina: in the north-east near the Serbian border, agriculture, food industry and trades.
• Doboj: transport hub in the north, industry and logistics.
• Istočno Sarajevo: location near the capital, industry and tourism.
• Trebinje: in the south, agriculture, viticulture, energy and tourism.

Industrial and free zones

Under the Law on Free Zones of Bosnia and Herzegovina, free zone users are exempt from import duty and VAT on equipment used for production. Municipalities also offer industrial land. A current overview is available through the Republika Srpska investment portal.
